Regulatory T cells limit age-associated retinal inflammation and neurodegeneration

This article investigates how regulatory T cells (Tregs) mitigate age-related inflammation in the retina, protecting against neurodegeneration. By controlling immune responses, Tregs help preserve retinal function and structure in aging models.

The study highlights the importance of Tregs in maintaining homeostasis within the aging central nervous system. Their role in reducing chronic inflammation could be leveraged to combat neurodegenerative diseases. These findings suggest that enhancing Treg activity may represent a therapeutic strategy for conditions like age-associated macular degeneration and other retinal pathologies
