Aging restricts the ability of mesenchymal stem cells to promote the generation of oligodendrocytes during remyelination.

This research highlights the diminished capacity of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to support oligodendrocyte differentiation during CNS remyelination in aging contexts. Aging MSCs produce fewer growth factors critical for oligodendrocyte progenitor cell recruitment and maturation.
